This is why you fail….

This is why you fail….
Luke: I don’t Believe It.
Yoda: That is why you fail.
In this post on this is why you fail, you’ll discover the reasons people fail to reach their full potential, how it relates to becoming successful online and how to avoid the common pitfalls that sabotage Internet entrepreneurs.
This is why you fail: You Must Believe YOU Can Do It.
(Seriously, I know you’ve seen this a thousand times, but watch it again RIGHT NOW)
I recently read a brilliant piece over at Forbes on “The 10 Reasons Why We Fail”. Author David DiSalvo explains why, despite our best intentions, we humans continue to accept lives of mediocrity and fail to reach our full potential. Here’s my insights on his piece.
This is why you fail….
If you fail to believe that it’s possible for YOU, then your mind will inevitably make it so. Your mind has an incredible commitment to make you right. It’s how we protect ourselves for danger and subsequent pain. I spoke on this when I covered George Zalucki’s training here.
Let me cut to the chase: You are powerful. You are capable of greatness. I truly mean that.
Why?
Because I believe in the human element. I know that we are all magical in that regard. All we have to do is to strive towards it.
Bottom Line: If you fail to believe, you will fail to achieve.
This is why you fail: When Did You Give Yourself Permission To Live Less Than?
So how do you get from this is why you fail to believing that success is possible? Several parts of David’s fantastic article cover this. Here’s my thoughts on it:
1. Somehow, we have allowed other people to dictate our outcomes. There are certain expectations of how we are supposed to behave, how we are suppose to earn a living and our perceived obligations to maintain the overall status quo.
This is so insidious that most of the time we are completely unaware of it. It’s can be very subconscious on their part and your internalization of it.
YOU must decide your “station” in life and where you want to be. YOU must be willing to disrupt the world around you if you want any chance to truly break free from mediocrity.
2. Failing to begin with the end in mind. You must KNOW where you are headed. If you have no destination, any path will lead you there. Think about what you want, deeply.
How will you be remembered for those actions? It’s better to be remembered for striving for greatness than drowning in mediocrity.
3. Accepting fate. This is a poor excuse for failing to take responsibility of our lives and our actions. YOU get to decide the life you want to live, the people you want to spend it with AND where it is headed.
You may not have control over the world around you or things that will suddenly enter your life in an instant, but you do get to make CHOICES. It’s those choices that define us.
4. Fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear of the consequences. Fear of failure. Those are all well-established. But the worst fear of all is the one least discussed because so many people are truly unaware of it. So what is it?
The fear of success. Marinate on it. What will others think of me if I quit my job and live a life of freedom while they continue to struggle, working 40+ hours a weeks and living paycheck to paycheck?
What about the “successful” people who work 60+ hours a week, yet have no life or freedom, what will they think of my freedom?
But the worst of the worst…..
Feeling that YOU are not worthy of success. This is some deep emotional stuff going on here. One’s self-worth is a key determining factor in created results in life. I speak on this more here. The questions you should ask yourself are these:
Have I created a prison or a paradise to play in? When did I give myself permission to live less than?
5.) Complacency. You have settled for mediocrity. You stopped dreaming. How this happened may be a combination of the first parts of this blog, but they have nonetheless happened.
Maybe enough people stole your dream from you each time you shared it. Perhaps you met failure in the eye and didn’t like it. Maybe you have just been lazy throughout life.
But put simply, you are STUCK in life. Tony Robbins calls this “no man’s land” where your not really failing, but your not achieving anything either.
6) Confusion. I love how David brings this up. He really hits the nail on the head with this one. In our modern day society that is getting more complicated by the minute, confusion is everywhere.
What to do? How to start? When to do it? Why to do it? Who to work with?
