Paid Traffic Sources: PPV / CPV Advertising Networks

First off, what’s the difference between PPV advertising & CPV advertising networks that you will be using for paid traffic sources?  PPV & CPV are nearly the same thing, with a subtle difference.  Pay Per View is a form of online marketing in which you are paying for being to view your ad.  Cost Per View is what you are paying for each person to view it.  When searching for paid traffic sources on Google, you can uses these two terms interchangeably to find more providers.

Before you jump head first into these paid traffic sources, I want to share with you my experiences with them so you can make the most out of your campaigns.  It’s also important to note that PPV advertising within these CPV advertising networks is a little different from site to site.  Each system has different tools and resources that they are plugged into in order to deliver your ads to their audience.  They all have strengths and weaknesses.

Some PPV advertising often use pop-up & pop-under ads.  I am not a big fan of these ads, but for some offers you can produce results.  I’ve found that these types of ads, while still dirt cheap, are the most expensive option they have, yet yield very low results.  You can test them, but keep a watchful eye and keep you budget on them to the bare minimum at first.

Speaking of testing…. TEST TEST TEST TEST….. and when you are done testing…. TEST AGAIN.

Another ad type these CPV advertising networks use is an interactive ad, which often slide up from a users system tray.  When people install software and toolbars that allow these ads to be served, you ad can be shown to them.  I’ve gotten the MOST CLICKS from this type of ad and if you are going to use this style of marketing, you will find the a lot success here.

Some of these paid traffic sources also offer search engine ads.  If they can serve enough of your ads, then this is a very targeted lead, so go for it.  A few of these networks offer real cheap options for search engine ads (via a browser plug-in or toolbar add-on).  It just comes down to their particular network on how many of these ads will be served.

Finally, a lot of these networks offer in-text advertising, which allows them to place clickable anchor text on pages of already created content, often in the form of a double-underline.  I like these ads, but some of these networks don’t have a large of set of websites to place your links on.

  • Start small and scale up.
  • Test, Test, Test!
  • Try different targeting.  You may find that US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand & Singapore targeting for English speakers is a tad more expensive, but converts higher if you are looking for sales and opt-ins.  If your goal is just massive traffic, you can target globally for cheaper.
  • Use multiple networks as they can reach a totally different audience that may be more receptive to your offer/website.
  • Look for sign-up and account funding bonuses.
