Empower Network House to be Finished This Month
“I was shorted the foundations of life that are normally provided by your parents or those in a parental role,” Frierson said. “All that I have, all that I have accomplished, I’ve done on my own with little or no support, until now. The Habitat program has allowed me to live a dream that I never thought I would. Because of Habitat and the sponsors of my home and the many volunteers, I now have the foundation I need to add fulfillment to my life.”
Frierson is a single mom to her son, Elijah. Given up for adoption at a young age, Frierson never had a stable home or family life. At the wall-raising ceremony, she expressed her gratitude to Empower Network and the Austin community for allowing her to give her son a better life.
“Through our corporate giving, Empower Network strives to help improve the lives of those who are homeless and to end the homelessness that affects thousands,” said said Empower Network Co-founder and President, David Sharpe. “My business partner and I experienced homelessness and we are grateful to be in a position to help others through organizations like Habitat for Humanity.”
According to the report, “The State of Homelessness in America 2013,” prepared for the National Alliance to End Homelessness, there was a point in 2012 at which more than 630,000 people were experiencing homelessness.
The Empower Network house dedication will take place at 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 24.
