Catholic Church On Birth Control Policy

Bishops Defend Fight Against Obama’s Policy on Birth Control Coverage is the headline beaming out over America today.

It has always amazed me as to how catholic priests can find the gall to campaign against birth control.

They have no idea what it is like to have child after child and is talking all in the name of religion.  I cannot see what their objection to this is.  In my cynical view I always believe what they are seeing  is that  the money they collect every Sunday is getting less and less and they want more  poor Catholics to be born. After all, never mind their retched state of life they will get theirs in heaven.

I live in what is a predominately catholic country.  Apart from Sunday mass, the odd dance to raise money for the church, the yearly harvest that to my knowledge is what I see the church near to me is doing.  I do not see the priest, except when he is driving at high speed on the road.  I do not see him trying to get the young men off the street.  Why is the church hall closed? Why is it not use in the evenings and school holidays to teach the young responsible behavior and citizenship?

The only time you see the Bishops and priests coming out and making a stand about anything is when they are talking about birth control – which God knows is needed by poor women who have the brunt  of the work involved in not only bringing those unfortunate children in the world but raising them as well.

poverty

I believe the church should pick their battles and poverty and the health and well being of women must be top priority.  If the mother is herself suffering from lack and bad health how on earth can she bring health children into the world let along look after them.

I sometimes wonder what Jesus would do if he was still walking around.  I say walking because I am sure he would not be in a pope mobile.
