Firstly always take massive action! What’s the use of all the knowledge and studying if you never take action and start to use it? Now let’s get going on getting you up to speed on Search Engine Marketing(SEM), also known as Search Engine Optimization(SEO).
You have always wanted to find out about, or possibly enhance your current knowledge of search engine Marketing(SEM) and have scoured the Internet for information to help you. The tips and tricks I am going to show you in this article, when followed as suggested, should help you to either improve on what you have already done or help you get off to a great start. It’s a small learning curve guy’s but completely attainable.
When designing your website to be optimized through SEM and overall search engine rankings, you need to think of every facet of your page as a potential ranking factor. No one has yet been able to pin down exactly what factors go into determining a site’s ranking in the search engines. Therefore, the best thing to do is to write and design your whole site as if it will affect your rankings.
Every page should have its own unique meta tag or description. The description should have a phrase known as “a call to action”. This is a phrase that begins with an action verb, such as “come here” or “check out” The description will be located beneath your title on many engines.
Use search engine marketing (SEM) to drive traffic to your site! The ideal goal for most is to get high rankings in the free search engines: you then have a continuous stream of free targeted traffic. However, it can take considerable effort and time to master search engine techniques to achieve this position. The quickest method by contrast is to use the “pay per click engines” (PPC) which will submit your listing in a few days, hours, or perhaps, immediate! This will require an on-going cost! You will need to monitor results and regulate your bids, if necessary.
Do not title any of your pages with general information. Even your welcome page should be titled with something relevant to your website. Doing this will allow a search engine to direct someone to your page without difficulty. It also lets the customer know that this is, indeed, the page they were looking for. This is a key component of SEM.
Search engines seem to love .edu domains, because they are usually educational, well respected, well looked at, and rarely contain information that the public should not be drawn to. If you really want to optimize your website’s rankings, see about getting an .edu domain, but make sure it’s appropriate for that type of domain, as trouble can start if you improperly use a domain such as this.
Your SEM keywords should be placed heavily on your page. By using them many times, this will help the search engines to determine what your page is all about. Use the key phrases that you have chosen several times, putting them as close to the top of your new page as you can. Placing key phrases in the proper place on your website, will help search engines recognize your site and increase your chances of views and clicks.
View source codes on competitors’ websites. This will let you see how they are using SEM on their own website, and what keywords they are using. While you might not wish to imitate their methods, this bit of sleuthing can make you think of other keywords and things to try.
Keep your URLs clean and simple. URLs that are cluttered with symbols and various database parameters do not help search engines in finding you because your website’s domain name is buried in it. In addition, long URLs do not look good in search results. This is one of the problems with building dynamic websites, so be aware of this if you are using dynamic architecture.
When using Search Engine Marketing (SEM), avoid keyword stuffing, or keyword densities that have been artificially inflated to exceed ten percent of the total text. Search engines will generally view such sites as possible spam, and may even ban your site from their listings altogether. Using natural text will avoid this problem and still drive traffic to your site.
If there is one word that describes your business and product in a nutshell, then “THAT” is the keyword that you want to capitalize on. Use this information to develop a comprehensive website that is specifically designed to attract and inform visitors who were directed there by search engine results.”
Long loading times are enemies to all webmasters who want to get more traffic to their sites. Load time is a significant factor in search engine performance. Pages that load slowly, are indexed slowly or even skipped over entirely. Of course, long load times are not appreciated by website visitors, either. Making pages load faster is a sound practice, all around.
