Subconscious Mind Training Series Part 3: The Voices We Hear

by | on December 26, 2011

Welcome to Part 3 of Our Subconscious Mind Training Series.

It’s your psychology, your subconscious mind,  that has the omnipotent power to either stop you dead in your tracks, or to be a powerful source of rocket fuel to drive you forward. This is why putting powerful, inspirational thoughts into your subconscious mind daily is absolutely crucial for any true success in anything in life.

In the previous posts we talked about how the subconscious mind responded to visual images as well as questions. In this article we will be discussing

Subconscious Mind Influencer: Music (or audio in general)

When visiting my father up in Carson City, if I am there on a Sunday morning he likes to drag… er, invite me to his church. I remember during one of those services, one of the acting pastors was talking about how “music is meditation.” This is very true, and you can see the effects of it, both good and bad, everywhere. It is the same principle as watching a movie that really hits home for you, or seeing an emotionally moving picture (or a certain type of pictures) over and over again, the more you expose yourself to a certain media the more it becomes a part of your subconscious.

When you look around you can even notice that all the different groups and cultures can easily be identified and defined by their music, what they listen to on a daily basis. You can even physically feel how the music feels within you, whether you instinctively accept it and even move along with the music or it repulses you entirely, as if you were listening to Nails on a Chalkboard: Greatest Hits.

It is not just music that affects your subconscious mind, but also the words that are strung together in your environment repeatedly over time. This is the main reason why so many success speakers and authors are so strongly against watching the news or listening to talk radio every day, as there is nothing but negative crap floating on the airwaves these days. Many people don’t realize the effect this has on their subconscious mind because they have listened to it so often that they have grown completely used to it. Even worse, they may have even grown numb to anything that sounds remotely positive, maybe even dismissing it as “cheesy” or whatever. Your subconscious mind is automatically programmed with what you consistently immerse yourself, so it is vital to take extra effort to find and listen to things that uplift you.

Action Steps to Reprogram your Subconscious Mind

A good gauge would be this: what do the people who have what you want fill their environment with? What do they listen to? What questions do they ask themselves? Are the things in your environment, whether you choose them or not, helping to guide you toward the things you really want? If not, then when would now be the right time to change that?

If positive, uplifting media isn’t part of your daily routine one of the best places to start would be YouTube, as finding what we’re looking for in just audio format can be a challenge. Find something that you feel a connection with, whether it be business motivation, gospel preaching, or anything that involves personal development. Make a point to listen to it at least 1/2 hour a day. You do this over a period of week, months and years, you will be amazed at how differently you will see and interact with the world around you.
