Is Extra Income What You’re Looking For? Here’s What You Need to Know First

by | on January 13, 2012

The Need For Extra Income Has Never Been Greater Than Today.

Ever since the current economic crisis began we as a nation have come to a very shocking and very painful realization that the term “job security” is an oxymoron, and many who do have jobs are barely keeping afloat. There is no question that this is an extremely painful time for the people all across the country, and people are desperate to simply earn enough to get by.

How Do We Find Extra Income Sources In This Rocky Economy?

The lists of things you can do for extra income are endless. Even now, with the economy the way that it is, there are still hundreds of ways to make some extra income and take care of not just your basic needs but also completely change your financial destiny for you and the people you care most about.

What Questions Should You Ask About Extra Income Opportunities?

The main questions that need to be asked are:

  • “What are my immediate needs that I need the extra income for?”
    • Are you stuck at a job you not only hate, but it’s barely keeping you afloat? Are you trying to escape a particular hellhole, or are you happy with where you are and just need an extra $1,000 or so extra a month to take a little bit of the weight off?
  • “Is what I’m doing able to provide me extra income for the long term? Is it sustainable?”
    • Simply put, doing anything for extra income takes work, and it only makes sense to do something that will be able to pay you continuously for your efforts. If not, then really, what’s the point?
  • “How much will it cost getting this new endeavor off the ground?”
    • With just about anything you would do for extra income, there will always be an investment and/or sacrifice that will have to be made to get the operation rolling. The big question behind this is really “Will the benefits of starting this particular endeavor outweigh the price I am, and will be, paying to get this thing going?”

Do You Need To Do What You Hate To Make Extra Income?

A lot of people are generally stuck in a job they absolutely hate doing. Unfortunately there is a very high chance that the idea of having to do what you hate to make money, that making an extra income has to be a grind.

I have had discussions with a few of my friends and colleagues on this very topic, particularly about the popular phrase “do what you love and the money will come.” That is very true, but unfortunately that is also an incomplete thought. You CAN do something you love doing and make a little extra income, or even a LOT of money, but doing that thing you love must also be able to contribute value to the marketplace. People need a reason to look at, and give you money for, what it is you’re doing.

The amount of extra income you can make is determined by two things: the amount of value you put into the marketplace, and your ability to spread the word about your product or service. However, doing something that you also happen to have a lot of passion to do in the process of making money will drive you even more to get your business off the ground. Besides, isn’t it just better to wake up to do something that you love doing every day?

I would love nothing more than to help you share your passion with the world. I would dare say that it is my passion to help people who are currently down and out, to give them a hand up to get through their struggles and to help them share their passion with the world.
