Why I Started Network Marketing!!!
by Brittany Roberts | on December 11, 2011
Hello everyone! Welcome to my first blog!!
Let me start by introducing myself and telling you a little bit about why I got involved in Network Marketing. My name is Brittany Roberts. I am 22, I am an Assistant Manager of a grocery store and I am starting my own business.
When I was young, my parents were (and still are) very good people who taught me a lot. One of the most important lessons they taught me and one that I grasped tightly onto, was work ethic. I’ve always had a very strong work ethic because of that teaching, and with that work ethic, I was offered my first job at 11 years of age and started working when I was 12.
I was taught, like most people, that you trade your ‘time for money’. That’s how it is and that’s how it will always be. So with that idea and my strong work ethic, I was working full time at 13 and put a down payment on my own first car when I was 15.
I worked hard and I worked a lot. I showed up early and I stayed late. And, as a result of that I got noticed in almost every job I had. It never took me too long before I was asked to become a trainer, leader or manager for the company that I worked for! And I loved it!
So when I was 19, I started working for a grocery store. As usual, my strong work ethic and teach-ability got me noticed and within a couple of months I was an Assistant Department Manager. I had no desire, and to this day I’m not sure that I could tell you why I decided to go into store management, but one day my Store Manager and my District Manager (the store manager’s boss) pulled me aside and asked me if wanted to go into store management.
I received 3 promotions in 6 months and before I knew it I was happily working 60-70 hours a week (on salary of course), working my butt off for little money. “The Company” always came first and before long I had almost completely given up the rest of my life. I hardly ever saw my family, I had all but given up hope on my lifelong dream of volunteering, I never had time to just go out and have fun, and on the rare cases that I did have time, I was too exhausted to do anything (Sound Familiar?). I found that all I did was work, sleep, and rest up so I could go back to work. At 22 years of age I had no life, no friends, dwindling relationships, no time to enjoy myself, and it had been so long since I’d done anything fun that I had actually forgotten what I enjoyed doing! (It’s not a fun place to be! I don’t suggest it!)
Then, to top it all off, I got sick. I had made my job so important that I ate, slept, and dreamt “The Company.” I quit taking time to eat and was too busy thinking (and worrying) about work to sleep. I started drastically losing weight and before long my body was so frail and tired that it just stopped working properly. I started having stabbing pains in my chest, I couldn’t breathe very well and I was drinking coffee and energy drinks just to get myself to work in the morning. My body couldn’t take much more of this and after a short period of time, I ended up in the hospital and unable to work for months to come (not to mention the hundreds of dollars I incurred in hospital bills!)
I needed a change! I needed to re-evaluate my life and my priorities! I needed to stop trading all my time for just a little bit of money! I needed a way out!
I know my situation is a bit extreme, but even still I know a lot of you can relate! You are trading all your time, energy, physical and emotional well-being for a check that still leaves “too much Month at the End of the Money!”
Follow me as I transform my life, show you how I dig my way out of this hole that I’m in and leverage my time for more money! And you can too!!!
Empowering You to Live Your Dreams!!!
