Having Fun – There is no Better Way

by | on December 13, 2012

There is no better way to do something than to have fun doing it –no matter what it is.

Why do I say there is no better way? Think about it for a second. Wouldn’t you rather have fun doing whatever it is you’re supposed to be doing? Of course you do!

I’ve always known this, ever since I could remember. I just never realized it.

A few years ago I was working at a warehouse with two of my buddies. We hated it but it was paying the bills, so we stuck with it for a while.

We found different ways to make it fun, and our supervisor hated us for it. To me, there is no better way to do something you don’t like, than making the best out of it.

warehouse pallets and boxesOur job was stacking boxes, we would grab the boxes off the conveyor belt and we would place them on different pallets, according to the numbers on the box. When the pallet got full, we had to wrap a string around it and tie it to make it sturdy.

Being the slacker that I used to be, I would always have a string ready so that when the pallet got full, I would take my sweet ass time tying up the boxes, while the others would be busting their ass off doing the work I was supposed to be doing. “They were friends of mine, so it was cool.”

I would look at them and they would just kind of nod their head like, ‘dang, this guy’s lazy’.

There were three of us on the line and we were constantly stacking, rarely did we have a few minutes to chill. Well me and another one of my buddies in particular had a tendency to always be messing around and looking for new ways to make it fun; like I said, there is no better way.

Let me tell you what I mean.

Every Saturday, the company would buy donuts for the employees and my friend and I really, really like eating donuts. It seemed like we were going into the break room every five minutes to grab a few bites, leaving our other friend doing our work.

homer eating a donutThis one particular Saturday, we go into the break room to grab a bite while we were supposed to be stacking boxes. We were kicking back in the break room when my friend just takes off. He didn’t say anything and just left. I looked at him leaving then looked back and there was our supervisor walking through the opposite side of the break room, which had two doors.

She walked in and saw me just standing there eating a donut. I thought she was going to give me crap for it but she just says “Big bites, Homar.” I just smiled and said “OK”.

I got back to work right away and my friend was just laughing. I told him what had happened and he started laughing some more. Then I started laughing.

This is when we started actually having fun at our job we hated. Let me tell you something, there is no better way to do something you hate, than having fun with it.

Just Have Fun – There is no better way

I’ve been having fun lately working on my business. There is a huge difference of doing something with a negative and boring attitude, and doing something while having fun and keeping a positive attitude towards it and making the best of it.

there is no better way - just have funAt first, we would go to work with a negative mental state, which led us to having a boring work day. When we started having fun at work, we would go to work more positive and end up having a great day.

You can apply this to anything, not just work or business. It starts by changing your mentality. When you know that there is no better way to do things than having fun, you start looking for ways of keeping your mind busy and not focus on the boring side of things.

There is no better way, just go out there and have fun.

I am a crazy-hair dude who enjoys listening to Epic music while working on my online business or when I'm doing anything that requires thinking; it simulates my brain. I also like 80's music. When I was 5 I wanted to fly and when I couldn't take off into the air, I cried. The funny thing is, at this point in my life I feel like I'm flying and everyday I seem to go just a little bit higher. This world truly is what you believe it to be.
