Creating a Foreseeable Future

the foreseeable future

What do I mean by a foreseeable future?

Ever notice how certain people seem to get everything they want and everything they do always seems to go their way, while others struggle with everything and everything seems to go wrong in everything they do?

Let me share something that happened to me a while back, that lead me to believe in the power of creating a foreseeable future.

This happened a few years ago; my friend and I were playing Super Mario Kart. I don’t know if you remember that game for the Super Nintendo that came out back in 1991 (that was one of my favorite games by the way).

super mario kart super nintendoWe were playing the game and I kept losing. Game after game, I would lose every single one of them. I tried not to show it, but I was a little frustrated and getting mad because I couldn’t win one game if my life depended on it.

My buddy was having a blast, being that he would be in 1st place every single time. What got me more frustrated was the fact that I somehow would crash into something and end up in 8th place.

This would happen every time. I would be in 1st or in 2nd place and just as I was about to win the game, BOOM! One of three things would happen every time: 1. I would get hit with a red turtle, 2. somebody would storm by using the star and bump into me, or 3. I would mess up trying to make the tightest turn possible (to advance more quickly). This went on for a while.

I was stressing out and decided to take a short break. I got up and walked around and chilled for a bit.

Changing the foreseeable future.

I came back feeling a little more relaxed and we started playing again.

I kept losing.

The difference this time was that I was no longer placing 8th. I started placing better and little by little, I reached 2nd place. At this point my friend was getting a little nervous at the fact that I was creeping up to 1st.

This is when the tables turned and what happened to me in the beginning, was happening to him. As I kept placing 1st, he would crash or get hit and end up in 8th place. As you would imagine, my mood lightened up and now he was the one getting irritated.

But what was the difference between when I was losing and when I was winning?

Let me tell you what was going on in my mind and how I was creating a foreseeable future, without realizing it.

In the beginning I was losing, obviously. I didn’t know this at the time but looking back, I was attracting 8th place and it came to me every time. Let me tell you what I mean.

the mind law of attractionWhen I was losing, all I could think about was me in 8th place. I would think about how I didn’t want to crash. I thought about how I didn’t want to get hit by a red turtle. All while I was thinking about this, I kept picturing it. I pictured me getting hit, I kept picturing me crashing and ending up in 8th place. Sure enough, I always ended up in last place; I would create a foreseeable future, and it would end up happening.

When I came back to play the second time, my mind was clear. I wasn’t thinking about losing or winning. As a result, my rankings got better as I went along.

While I was winning, I kept seeing myself winning, even before the race started.

I was creating a foreseeable future.

I kept picturing me finishing in 1st place, and I started to place in 1st and staying there. The more I placed in 1st, the more I pictured it in my mind and the more I kept winning.

Whether I was losing or winning, I was creating a foreseeable future in my mind first which led to the outcome of whatever I pictured in my mind. I saw myself losing and I lost. I saw myself winning, and I would win. This happened consistently every single time.

I have no clue how this works, but your mind is a powerful tool; whatever you believe is going to happen with absolute certainty, happens just the way you pictured it.

I’ve put this to the test in many ways, with video games (as you saw here), in my business, and even in some personal experiences. I don’t know how it happens, but it works.

Knowing this, has led me to create my own foreseeable future.

The funny thing is, at this point in my life I feel like I'm flying and everyday I seem to go just a little bit higher. This world truly is what you believe it to be.
