OK so I did an article on my favorite top 5 board games, but who am I right? Well how about we look at the most played or the most popular. The games that have made the most money in sales, most units sold. Stands to reason these are the most popular, and it is likely that you the reader have played some of these if not all at one time or another. If you have not……turn off the video game and try one of these classics.
Chess
This game is played my millions of folks around the globe, at home, school clubs, tournaments, online and there are some fancy expensive chess boards out there.
This game has a limitless range of game possibilities and it involves increased strategies and lots of practice to play at a high skill level. It is a tough game to master and a bit hard for some to learn. It is a great game with many faithful players of the game. There is a best move for every situation and it is up to you to find it.

Everyone it seems learns how to play checkers. It has been around for many years.
It is easier to learn and is a fast paced game. It also has a limitless range of game possibilities, even though like Chess only two people can play. It is simple, basic rules game for the person who is up to a challenge, like Chess you have an army of pieces and the object of the game is to capture the opposing players pieces. Capture them all and you win.
Monopoly
It may take several hours to play but at least you will learn how to manage, invest and bargain real estate properties in this classic real estate game. You can also play with up to 6 players
Why is it on the list? It was a big hit when it was first released during the great depression. Monopoly has sold over 200 million copies and has been published in 89 languages. It is estimated that at least 500 million people have played the game. How’s that for a board game?

Why is it on the list? Every Americans must admit that they have played the game at least once in their lifetime. Also, Sorry! has been released in different versions such as Sorry!: The Disney Edition, PokÈmon Sorry! and Sorry!: The Spider-Man 3 Edition. For more than 70 years it still maintains its popularity and appeal to children.

Scrabble is not only entertaining; it is also educational. While beginners with limited vocabulary will find it hard to form words, playing the game regularly will improve language skills and encourages learning, reading and literacy, which will help the player to become better.
