How To Build A Good Squeeze Page

  1. Killer Attention Getting Headline: First and foremost, you must grab the attention of your visitor with a catchy headline. In other words, give them a reason to stay on the page and ultimately “opt in” for your free offer. A couple of great headline starters are: “How to…” or “7 Ways to…” or “Who else wants to…”, etc. It’s critical that you know and understand your visitor so that you can write the headline according to their needs and desires. Get into your prospect’s head by visiting online forums, blog posts, or any other information that can tell you more about their thought process.
  2. Compelling Benefits Driven: Now that you’ve grabbed the attention of your visitor with a headline, your next step is to engage them with a combination of media. For example, you could create a video squeeze page, or even add audio, images, bullet points and various fonts/colors. Besides being benefits driven, you must also strive to answer common questions or misconceptions that your average visitor may have. Focus on the “5 W’s of marketing.” Who are you writing for? What solution are you providing? Why does it matter to them? Where and how can they access this information and use it? When will you be providing further content, training and/or support on what’s offered? And remember that your squeeze page should place the biggest emphasis on the benefits your audience will receive and the pain you can help resolve in return for their contact information.
  3. Simple Way for Visitor to “Opt In”: This is by far the easiest of the four components, but you still need to pay close attention here. Simply throwing up any old web form in your squeeze page won’t cut it. Therefore, you need to think very hard about how many fields to include (HINT: the lower number of fields you include, the higher the conversion will be!), and what “Call To Action” to include on your submit button. After testing various options, we’ve found some of the best copy to be: “Get Instant Access,” “Download Now,” or “Register Now,” rather than simply writing “Submit.”
  4. Something Visitors are Actually Interested in: We know this sounds super simple, but far too many people still screw this one up. Many newbie marketers think all they have to do is throw up any old squeeze page and they’ll magically get “opt ins.” Well, we can tell you from years of experience that this simply is not the case. Instead, you need to be offering something of real value to your visitors. Not just some crappy report with regurgitated stale information or “expert tips” that can be found on any blog across the web.
