Fruits & Veggies: You Need Both!
It seems we are constantly hearing that we need to eat our fruits and vegetables to balance out our nutrition or to improve our nutrient weak western style diet (burger, fries and a soda – want to supersize that?) So we look at the various choices from the plant world that we can eat and based on our personal preferences maybe choose to eat only fruits or only vegetables. Perhaps it’s because we don’t like the texture of this or the smell of that, but mixing the two groups into your diet will bring a huge group of phytonutrients to your diet while eating only fruits or only vegetables will keep you from getting the full nutritional benefit that combining them will give you. The different colors that fruits and vegetables have are sort of a coding system as to the types of nutrients contained in those plants.
