These days, the internet has opened up a SLEW of opportunities to turn your blog, into a gold mine!
Affiliate marketing has pioneered a whole new work from home industry while still working with reputable companies like Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Clickbank! Better yet, people are making more money than would have otherwise been available within the constraints of a normal ‘nine-to-five’ job.
Let’s start with, what are affiliates?
- Affiliates, help other companies promote their products or services
- Affiliates, get paid based off of customers they send to their product(s)
- Most companies have no limit to how many affiliates they can have
Learning “how to monetize a blog” is easier than you’d think!
Most sites you can navigate to their ‘affiliate program’ page and sign up for free, though some affiliate programs do have a fee upon signing up.
My favorite company is a GREAT source for beginner affiliates and veteran affiliates alike, it’s called ClickBank. ClickBank is a free affiliate program, that allows affiliates to pick their products they promote from a broad spectrum of categories, such as :
- Arts
- Education
- Games
- Computers /Internet
- Health and Fitness
- Sports
- And more!
Here’s an example of a few products :

Now that you have seen some of the products you might sell, let me show you the meat and potatoes of ‘how to monetize a blog.’
So, you’ve signed up at ClickBank, and chosen what to sell, but can how you blog help you sell it? I know what you are probably thinking “that’s the hard part,” well good news, it’s not!!

If you read the complete article above, the first three ways they talk about promoting products are ‘articles, niche sites, and blogs.’ So, let’s say you’re selling Paleo Diet Recipe Cookbooks, because you blog about dieting and nutrition, where do you think a good place would be to post your blog / article?
Well, I would start on fitness and weight loss forums. When you write on the forum, let the readers know that you just wrote a helpful article (blog) about a new diet that they should check out!
The second way, is to promote your blog through videos! Make a video testimonial, and upload it to youtube!
And if you can’t or don’t want to do the video thing yourself, check out http://www.fiverr.com, its a great website where you can pay people $5 to do just about anything… including making your product sound ‘grrrrreat’ by making testimonial videos for you!
Finally, utilize social media! Tweet it, Like it on Facebook, get it out there! Grow a facebook / twitter account made for selling products too, be interesting, and occasionally plug one of your products!
