The Power of Momentum

The Power of Momentum
There are many unseen forces in our world that initiate, sustain and motivate people to do all sorts of thing. Gravity for instance you sure don’t see it but you see what it does and you feel it’s effects. Jesus said that the Spirit of God was like the wind you can feel it but you don’t really know where it came from. Momentum is a force that fits this same allegory.
Seasons: Initiation, Momentum, Transition
Initiation
Everything in life has transitions or “seasons”. Initiation, momentum, transition… repeat! Initiation is is difficult because it always involves doing something you haven’t done before with all your effort. It’s kind of like this-If you have a car that is parked in neutral and you try to push it it takes a lot of effort once it is moving it’s easier to sustain it’s motion but the initial “push” to get it going requires extra effort. In the realm of business if you are trying to start a new business it takes a while to “get a break” and will most likely require you working your old job full time to pay your bills and working your new job full time to get it initiated or in other words – You put forth a lot of effort to get the car rolling.
Momentum
This is the fun, productive, awe inspiring stage that everyone wants to live in but few people are willing to put forth the effort to attain. I heard someone say once that “momentum will make you feel like your better than you really are”. Back to the car illustration, one the car is in motion the effort required to push it is reduced probably by 75%. An example of this is in this audio I listened to this morning from Dave Wood talking about how he, over the course of two years put up around 200 articles which 3500 different people per day now read of which many of those buy products from him which has momentum for him in that he did the work and now he lives in the momentum of his work. I am involved in a Christian ministry and this same phenomenon happens there also. When a lot of people show up it causes more people to show up. Getting everything right for the first group is where most of the effort exists. If you put your heart and hard work into something you WILL reap a harvest from your efforts. If you don’t put any work into it you WILL NOT and I repeat WILL NOT see any reward. Plain and simple.
Transition
This place is where your momentum brings forth a change into a new season. My wife and I have seven children and something interesting that relates to this is “Transition” or the time period right before the baby comes out. The baby grows and grows and gets healthy inside the mothers womb and then it’s time to come out. The baby is pressed and the mother goes through great pain and then a new birth has happened! Our lives go through the same seasons. In fact if you are reading this you are most likely in one of these three seasons. You are either trying to get something going, experiencing the momentum from your efforts or you are experiencing the pressure and pain of change. Either way you are not alone. Don’t loose heart and you will see a reward from your efforts. Losers are not people who fail and fall down, losers are people who fail, fall down and don’t get back up!
Be blessed,
Jonathan
