How to Get Followers on Twitter in Two Minutes

by | on February 7, 2012

All good marketers need to know how to get followers on Twitter without having to spend hours a day searching through Tweets trying to find people who will actually read your tweets, interact, and click your links.

How to Get Followers on Twitter in Two Minutes

The key to good Twitter followers is to find them off of Twitter. There are so many marketers spamming with Tweets that have Twitter set to automatically update, so they never log in, they never read other peoples tweets, and they will never click on your links. These kinds of followers will only clog up your Twitter feed with crappy links making it hard for you to interact with the genuine Twitter users.

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that simply following as many people as possible is the best way how to get followers on Twitter. The truth is in the long run it will work against you as you won’t be able to see the genuine Tweeters among the Spammers and you wont create relationships…and guess what, your tweets will be ignored no matter how many followers you have!

So you don’t want to simply know how to get followers on Twitter, you want to know how to get GOOD followers on Twitter!

Here’s a simple outline of a great process to build up an army of Twitter followers that read your tweets, reply and interact with you, and click your links because they know you’re a real person and they like you!!

How to Get Followers on Twitter That ACTUALLY Follow You

1. Go to Google and click on “Blogs” in the More Tab

2. Search for a niche phrase that might be interested in making money from home, in my video I use the example Personal Development (as there is a big crossover between aspiring entrepreneurs and personal development). Add the word “Blogspot” to the end of your phrase. This means you wont just find the high traffic blogs, but free blogs with people who are not necessarily accomplished bloggers or are just learning. These people are likely to be interested in learning what you have to teach!

3. Click on their blog and go to their main page. Look for a small “T” or a blue bird, these are Twitter icons. This will take you to their Twitter page.

4.  On their page you need to check if they genuinely use Twitter often.  It’s best if they’ve used it within the last 3 days or so and have at least one tweet without a link in it.  Even better if they show some interaction with other Twitterers, like a “retweet” or an “@”.  Check that their Followers balance well with their number they are Following, this means they will probably follow you back.

5. Follow them and do an “@theirusername” tweet to say hi and that you found them through their blog, that you share a common interest, etc.  This makes them far more likely to check out your blog in return.  Also, they will tend to be flattered and more prone to want to interact back!  They will recognize you and know who you are when they see your Tweets.

6. To supercharge this method, keep an eye on your Followers blogs (it’s easy, they will probably put up links in their Tweets).  When you like one of their articles Tweet it to your followers, but make sure to tag them in using the “@” symbol.  This helps them get views on their blog and makes them both like you, and want to help you get traffic in exchange.

Don’t do this just for the followers, but interact, tweet without links when you can, and enjoy actually getting to know others.  It’s worth it! You’ll get to know some great people, and massively help your business at the same time.
