Email marketing lists are absolutely VITAL to your success in the online marketing world.  Even if you are completely new to internet marketing you probably have heard that the money is “In the List”.

So does that mean if you don’t have your own email marketing lists you are dead in the water? Or you will need to take a year or two to build up your own list before you can start making decent money? Absolutely not.

Email Marketing Lists can be built FAST from scratch, if you do it right.

Follow a few simple steps and you will be well on your way to building several large email marketing lists before you know it.

How to Build Large Email Marketing Lists Fast:

1. Know what NOT to do:

You don’t want to make a stupid mistake at the start that can lead you to email marketing hell.  Do you like getting tons of spam messages into your email inbox?  Probably not.  Do you like getting emails from complete strangers who bought your email address from someone you thought you could trust?  Probably not.

DON’T try to buy email marketing lists.  They are not only going to be completely valueless for you as all people will do is unsubscribe, it could also lead to penalties if you get lots of complaints for spam.

Ok….now what you should do:

2. Set up a way to capture a list

First you need to have an autoresponder where you can collect your list and follow up with them.  If you use a reputable autoresponder they will look after the legal side of things for you so you don’t make any mistakes that could put your email marketing lists at stake.  I recommend Aweber for this, but feel free to shop around.

You also need some kind of REASON for people to sign up to your email marketing lists.  I always recommend starting with a free offer that will teach your leads how to do something that’s related to your niche (for an example of my best converting offer, go here).

You can write a simple ebook, or create a training video and give it away for free in exchange for someone’s email address.  If that sounds like a lot of work, don’t worry…you can actually get rights to market someone else’s Ebook. 3. Start Your Initial List

Once you’re all set-up with an offer you need to drive people to it.  The absolute BEST way I’ve found to get your list going with a bang is to set up a Solo-ad.

A Solo-ad is basically paying people with large email marketing lists to send out a simple email to their list suggesting that they pick up your freebie offer. Typically you are paying for a guaranteed number of people visiting your site, and if you have a good offer that converts well you can have hundreds on your list from just a couple well placed Solos.

The reason these ads work so well is because you are receiving targeted traffic from your niche, who have proven that they actually OPEN their emails!  You also are being endorsed by someone they typically know and trust, so you start with a list that actually wants to hear from you.

4. Grow, grow, grow

Once you have even a couple hundred people joining your email marketing lists it becomes easier as more doors are open to you.

If you are short on marketing money you can do Ad-swaps.  Find someone else with a similar size list and get them to send out a solo email in exchange for you doing the same.  Anytime you need an extra big boost get a paid solo in.
