Joel Osteen Not Your Typical Pastor

by | on January 16, 2012

Joel Osteen is the pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston Texas but Joel Osteen is not your typical pastor.  I told a friend once that I liked to listen to the messages from Joel Osteen.  He kind of looked at me like I was nuts.  When I inquired about his response, he said that anyone who smiled that much has got to be fake.

I disagree.  Joel Osteen appears to be a positive person.  He likes to deliver an empowering message that’s inspirational and gets a person to think about the words they choose!  It’s not the same old stuff because you actually learn how to turn negative thoughts into positive ones.

Joel Osteen is anything but typical

Joel OsteenInspirational words are his forte.  He speaks eloquently for a purpose.  It would appear that Joel Osteen is not your typical pastor.  What I mean is that his message talks more about God’s positive strength in one’s life instead of hearing things like, “you are just a unworthy sinner.”  Now, this doesn’t mean that people aren’t out there sinning.  We see a lot of that every single day, just turn on the news.  But I think what he is trying to do is show people how they can change their mindset and live a victorious life.  He says that is what God wants for us.  God doesn’t want you to be defeated, but be prosperous (this is more than just money).

Joel Osteen and his approach seems to be helpful for those who may speak negatively, feel defeated, have no hope, are depressed, oppressed, worried, want to give up in life or don’t know how to press on.

Joel Osteen speaks positively about your hopes, goals, dreams, values and life.  It’s our decisions that affect our outcomes.  So if we are making bad decisions, we’ll attract bad outcomes.  This works in the opposite too.  If we make good decisions, we can open the door for a brighter future. But how do we make better decisions? By changing our thoughts, our words, and by learning how to have a positive mental attitude in everything we do!

Joel Osteen makes you feel inspired

When you are done watching Joel Osteen on television, you’ll feel uplifted, inspired, and more than a conqueror.  It’s not about bashing people or telling them what they are doing is wrong.  It’s about empowering people  through messages from the Bible.  He’ll teach and show you how you can use scripture to apply to your life in a practical way.

It’s really not the same old religious type of message that you may have heard a million times.

He’s got this way.  It’s a way that says, “You are more than the sum of your passed mistakes.”

I think the biggest thing I’ve learned from him is to be very careful of how I speak over my life and how I speak about others too.  If I speak negative words, I am only going to attract the negative circumstances with them. But if I speak empowering words, well, then I will attract those circumstances.  But I’ve learned to also not give up half way through, just because I don’t see the outcome yet.  Having faith is as important as speaking the positive.

I think Joel Osteen is good for anyone to listen to and learn from, whether they are a person of faith or not.  Try it and determine for yourself.  Check your television listings and watch his show.
