FORECASTS OF BABY BOOMER RETIREMENT ARE LIES

by | on March 31, 2012

Baby Boomers are being lied to by the same financial companies that lost a good portion of their retirement in the collapsing economy.  I’m boiling mad at this, because the effect it could have as our generation ages could be devastating if one believes what their studies show.  These studies (conducted by the financial companies themselves), attempting to make the outlook brighter than we’ve seen it are, I believe, an effort both to absolve themselves (for losing people’s money and then being handsomely rewarded by government bailouts) and to encourage the investor to keep their money with the companies instead of smelling the coffee and finding another way.

The largest growing segment in the homeless population is the Baby Boomer generation.  Of course there are others, including families with children who are suffering the same fate, but unless the Baby Boomer generation stops watching American Idol and really looks honestly at the future – we are in trouble.  Big trouble.

When you read between the lines and calculate the numbers put forth by these studies, you find that  Boomers (hundreds of millions of Boomers) are going to have to work well past the age or retirement, just to survive.  They are going to need to produce income well into their older years.  Can you imagine getting up and on the road every day at 72 (if you could find a job)?  Is that what you really want?

You deserve a better retirement/older years than what you may get.  Sure, there are plenty of Baby Boomers who are “all set” financially, regardless of what may happen.  But I’m concerned that the big financial companies are putting out numbers that make Baby Boomer retirement look rosey, when for the average person, it’s all but impossible.

But there is HOPE – hope that we recognize the problem and muster our inner resourcesto protect ourselves.  Baby Boomers are known for their ingenuity, and it’s time we read through the pretty picture and get down to reality.

Baby Boomers are the largest number of individuals starting their own home-based businesses, far surpassing any other group.  That doesn’t surprise me.  The aware Boomer has taken off the clouded lenses, looked squarely at his situation and determined that the way out of our individual and collective potential misfortune is entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurs are growing by the day.  Boomers are flocking to the Internet to start businesses – but for the newcomer, be wary of the scams.   Consider looking at Empower Network where you can not only learn just about everything you need to know about business and marketing, but you can also develop long-term friendships and partnerships plus earn income while you are doing it, regardless of what type of business you are building.

Never give up, never quit – never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never!

BUT DON’T IGNORE THE WARNING SIGNS, when a way out is right in front of your nose!

About The Author:

Mary Anne Nagy is a former attorney and long-time Internet marketer on a mission to show other Baby Boomers, the disabled and homebound, how to create their own economies, gain wealth and enjoy life at the same time. Her motto on her personal blog (at http://MaryAnneNagy.com) is "These STILL are the Good Old Days," and she lives by this principle. Mary Anne was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2008, although it appears to have been with her during her entire adult life. Fortunately, she appears to have a very slowly progressing form of the disease and is not restricted in movement and lives, drives, works and enjoys herself independently. Since her diagnosis, she has met (online and in the real world) many MSers who have not been as fortunate and find themselves homebound with limited resources and incomes. Thus, she hopes to help people with MS and other disabling conditions to earn a substantial income despite their restrictions. In her spare time, she provides companionship and care to the elderly or disabled living at home or in nursing care facilities. She is also active in her local parish church. Her two adult sons live nearby. Getting the word out about the incredible opportunity of Empower Network for all people who want to earn life changing income while still having a life is a major priority.
