Skiing Basics

by | on December 29, 2011

When I go skiing and don’t feel like I am doing the greatest, I always go back to the basics. I start focusing on the correct principles of skiing that helped me become the skier that I am today.

I think of how the edge needs to carve and not slide or skid across the snow. When you carve it is almost like you are skiing on rails, there is no slide, and you feel as if you are riding a rail road track. There might be some turbulence and some shaking but you hold the rail and you don’t skid the turns. The better you hold the edge the better the turn feels and the faster go.

When you are at the point of going fast and you are on a steep  hill by nature you want to slow down, when you slow down you usually loose the edge and the control. In contrast when you have faith that your edge will hold and you let the skis go using the edge properly you will find you can go much faster and stay in more control. I love the feeling of sharp edges and going fast. Riding the rail is what I call it and it is a wonderful feeling.

Skiing has been a part of my life for 34 years and the older I get the more I love the sport. The older I get the more I realize how important the basics are in life and in skiing.

In internet marketing and working with the Empower Network I have become so out of control trying to do all that we are being taught that I get just plain lost and don’t really get anything accomplished. When that happens, I go back to the basics and I just start blogging and telling people about the business. When that happens I feel better and know that I am accomplishing something.

I know I want to do all the other things that we have learned in the webinars and videos, but I can only do so much. So when I get over whelmed I just go back to the basics and start blogging.
