Google Updates an Entrepreneur Dealt with in 2012

by | on February 15, 2013

As an entrepreneur can see, the algorithms of search engines constantly update. Some updates are not significant. Thus, online business owners don’t pay attention to them. Nevertheless, there are also some Google updates which become real challenge for an entrepreneur and cause a lot of discussions among SEO experts and online business owners. It should be noted that Google team worked hard on updating their search engine algorithms. Thus, let’s try to realize which Google algorithm updates took place in 2012?

An entrepreneur and Page Layout update

Page Layout update recognizes the structure of a webpage (title, the main part and side bar) and estimate the volume of useful content on it. So, if top part of a webpage is filled with advertising blocks, logotype and other promo content then the webpage will have a low priority in Google search engine rankings. Thus, it is better for an entrepreneur to provide the answer to user’s request in the top part of a webpage.entrepreneur

An entrepreneur and Venice update

When Venice update came out Google users from different regions began to see different search engine results. Today, the search engine gives a preference to websites, which are locally closer to an user, who performs the search.

An entrepreneur and Google Penguin update

Google Penguin update is considered to be an effective solution for search engine to cope with so called web spam. This algorithm update was developed by Google team to punish web resources, which actively use link building spam techniques for improving search engine rankings of a website. It should be noted that many websites have suffered after this Google algorithm update.

To avoid punishment of this Google algorithm update an entrepreneur shouldn’t do the following:

-          actively use keyword phrases in the text of incoming links;
-          get links from spam domain names;
-          participate in link exchange schemes for manipulating SERPs;
-          do spam hyper linking of web pages;
-          obtain links from not topic related sites.

Also, it is important to know for an online entrepreneur that Google has released the special tool that allows webmasters to decline links. This tool prevents an entrepreneur from spam link building that can be performed by his competitors to decrease search engine rankings of a website.

An entrepreneur and EMD algorithm

EMD algorithm (Exact Match Domain) is also considered to be anti spam algorithm of Google that doesn’t take into consideration keyword phrases used in domain name. The point is that a keyword put in domain positively influenced search engine rankings in the past. Now the situation has been changed. It means that keywords provided in domain name are a bad signal for search engines today. Google wishes to see more band domain names and give them higher priority. Therefore, an entrepreneur who registered a domain containing profitable keywords shouldn’t expect quick improvement of search engine rankings of his website. Exact Match Domain makes an entrepreneur work hard to achieve this goal!
