Want to play the new “Mists of Pandaria” WoW expansion before it’s available to the general public?

Lots of people don’t know that you can actually just request to be a beta-tester for Blizzard.
There’s no cost to apply and literally thousands of people are chosen to play games before they’re available for sale.

You can be a beta-tester for World of Warcraft, Starcraft or Diablo III.  And it’s easy to apply.

Here’s how to become a beta-tester for Mists of Pandaria:

First of all, you have to have an active Battle.net account and have already added at least one paid game.  (You can’t be a beta-tester if you’re playing a free starter-edition).  So, if you’re already playing a paid version of World of Warcraft….you’re good to go!

Secondly, you need to set up your Beta Profile in your Battle.net account area.  To do this, login to your Battle.net account, click on “Account” and then click on “Beta Test Profile Settings”.  Here’s where to click to request to be a beta-tester for Mists of Pandaria:

On the next page, you’ll see instructions for downloading a special file that will analyze your computer system.  Blizzard selects beta-testers based on — among other things — the kind of computer you have, how much memory you have, hard-drive space, etc.

Don’t feel like you have to have a super-duper computer.  They want to see how the game performs on ALL kinds of computers.  So you don’t need to worry about making your system look impressive.

Download the appropriate file (Windows or Mac) and run that file.  It will analyze your system, send the results to Blizzard and then take you to a page where you can select which beta tests you’re interested in participating in.  You can choose from Diablo, Starcraft and Warcraft.

Finally, select which ones you are interested in and click the “Update Preferences” button and you’re good to go!

Now what?  You just wait.  You’ll receive an email from Blizzard/Battlenet inviting you to be a beta-tester for whichever games you’ve selected.  At the time of this writing, they’re looking for people to test Mists of Pandaria more than anything else.
