How Reinventing the Wheel is Screwing Up Your Business

by | on December 18, 2012

reinvent the wheelFor years I blogged and blogged and blogged. I bought systems, and products, and information left and right. I watched each of them, and most of them I said “hmmm… this is interesting, but I’m going to change this, and move that, and rotate this, and change that”… by the time I’d frankensteined the process as it was taught it no longer worked.

It was then easy to chalk it up to a messed up product, and complain about how nothing I buy ever works, or even worse blame the product creators for creating a crap product and scamming me.

Yeah… been there. Done that.

The thing is, the product quality had nothing to do with my success failure. That was completely related to me believing I was smarter than the product owner, and my need, nay, compulsion to prove how smart I am by reinventing the wheel.

When someone creates a product, they do it (generally) because it works for them. When you take a system and change it, leave out pieces and parts, or exchange 3 elements for 4 others that weren’t even part of the original, you’re creating a recipe for disaster.

Why are you trying to reinvent the wheel?

Yes, there are times when you need to tweak a system… but that really should be done AFTER you’re making money with the system you bought. AFTER you’ve tested it out for a good amount of time AS IS so you can see how it works as it was created. You may see a couple things that you can do differently as time goes on… but you bought a system because it’s a system.

If you wanted your own system, why didn’t you just create one?

It’s funny, I see people every day taking the Empower Network system and changing it as much as they possibly can. Take out the banners. (they might offend someone) Take out the opt in boxes (Dave sometimes offends people). Take out the footers (you guessed it, don’t want to offend anyone).

Funny thing is… when I go to the top earners in this company and look at their blog… it looks exactly like it did right out of the box.

The system is being sold because IT WORKS.  Unless you’re making 50K a month, I’d suggest you let go of your need to be smart, and right (believe me, I know it’s hard), and just USE the system, whether it’s Empower Network or another system you’re using.

The creators of these amazing systems are highly qualified, and incredibly successful people… and they are using the exact same system they’ve given you… why would you decide, as someone who’s making nothing a month, to change it all up?

Just sayin’.

What happens when you STOP trying to reinvent the wheel

Anyway… I know I’m not the only one with this crazy desire to reinvent the wheel. My amazing sponsor Niamh Arthur went through the same thing in her first 6 months in Empower Network.

She recently did a Google Hangout interview, and I learned a ton from it, so I thought I’d share it with you.

This google hangout will show you what happens when you stop reinventing the wheel. I’ll give you a hint you go from zero to 12K a MONTH. That’s part of Niamh’s story… take a listen and keep your ears open, she’s dropping a ton of golden nuggets. You’re going to love her, I know I do!

If you’re ready to give yourself up to a system, stop trying to reinvent the wheel, and just follow 8 simple steps to success, watch this video, and click the “add to cart” button when it comes up!

See you on the inside…
