Marketing Tip: Firefox Add Ons
by Birgit Jurock | on March 21, 2012
Usually I am getting lost when searching for Firefox extensions or add ons. How many are available to download? Thousands? Many thousands? And many of those are really, really practical. But how many can you actually use at the same time? However, when someone recommends a tool, an add on, I listen.
So today we are chatting away in our Skype group (cannot live without it anymore, can you??) and one of the friends recommends “Rapportive”. Never heard of it before…but it was just THAT tool what we were missing in our daily activities and didn’t even know it exists.
“Rapportive”: adds rich contact profiles to Gmail! See what people look like, where they’re based, and what they do. Establish rapport by mentioning shared interests. Grow your network by connecting on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and more.
Rapportive shows you the profile AND social networks of about 80% of the people who respond to e-mail. A little profile pops up just to the right of their email response. (works in gmail and aweber too). So this is really cool and it works great.
Once we are at it, I remembered that I had just downloaded an add on called “clippings”. Was that 2 weeks ago already? I have used it once so far or twice, although it is a VERY practical tool and saves time too. Speaking of information overload, eh?
“Clipping”: Save frequently-entered text for pasting later. Clippings lets you copy and paste a text “clipping” with just two mouse click…it saves the clipping too and you can organize your clipping, rally neat.
And today, while I thought I could write a post about the newly found add ons, I went to Firefox extensions or add ons and ….oh, feeling like a little child in a toy store…oh the variety!….I got lost for a moment, getting twitchy fingers, the little voice calling: take this one DOWNLOAD, take that one DOWNLOAD….brrr. that’s not why I came here. However, I found one called the..
“Gmail manager”: The original Gmail notifier for multiple accounts. Allows you to receive new mail notifications along with viewing account details including unread messages, saved drafts, spam messages, labels with new mail, space used, and new mail snippets. That’s what I always wanted.
Here we have three big time savers, so my browsing and getting lost in the “Firefox add on store” was not a time waster after all. By the way, Chrome has a super “add on store” as well
