“To have more than you’ve got, become more than you are…
by James D'Alesandro | on December 17, 2011
The great Jim Rohn spoke these words and they bear repeating:
“To have more than you’ve got, become more than you are.”

Jim also said: “Success is not to be pursued; it is to be attracted by the person you become.”
I see most people chasing after success however, this is definitely not the optimal approach.
If you chase after success I’m sure you will find that it will constantly elude you!
It’s much easier to attract success.
To accomplish this you simply must make yourself more valuable to the market place.
You see in Free Enterprise, it’s nothing like a normal J O B, you don’t get paid for time…you get paid for results.
If you want to achieve the greatest results in the shortest amount of time you must become more valuable.
So you might be wondering right now… “James tell me how I make myself more valuable? I have no clue where to begin.”
Well, this is also very simple and it’s a perfect time to share another Jim Rohn gem with you…
Jim said: “Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.”
You must become a hungry student who is eager to learn new skill sets.
I’m very fortunate, I’ve always wanted to learn more and always thoroughly enjoyed learning.
I was called a sponge when I was younger. I’m still a sponge today!
I want to soak up and learn as much as I can. Then apply this newly acquired knowledge to my craft.
Now notice how I said become a student not a follower. MASSIVE difference there. You don’t want to be following people or information blindly.
You do want to find people and information that you resonate with. Study and apply this information to your life and watch your results SKYROCKET!
If you are not achieving the level of success that you’re happy with right now… isn’t it time you started to truly apply yourself?
Take an honest look in the mirror… have you really been giving it 100%?
Are you doing whatever it takes to succeed?
Because this is what is required if you’re going to truly experience success.
So once again how do you become more valuable???
You are going to want to dive head first into your own personal development & self improvement ASAP.
You add value to yourself based on the books you read, the CD’s you listen to, the DVD’s you watch, & the people you spend quality time with.
Modeling successful people, who’ve already achieved what you are looking to accomplish, is also VITALLY important.
It’s time to start reading again!
It blows my mind when I ask a client of mine… “What is the last book you’ve read to assist you in moving towards your goals?”
Many times they haven’t read a book in a very long time. People have told me they haven’t read anything since college or even high school!
Or they’re reading fiction books. Basically reading just to pass the time.
Now, there is nothing wrong with reading for entertainment and enjoyment… as long as you’re also reading material that is going to sharpen your craft. Material that is going to take you to the next level.
If you haven’t started your own personal library yet there is no time like the present.
Now don’t give me the excuse of having no money to start your library. There are an abundance of free resources on the Internet. You just have to take action and start seeking them out. You’ll be shocked by how much you can find.
Your public library is also a tremendous resource. Last time I checked it was 100% free for you to own a library card.
You can go to your public library and even if they don’t have the title you want you can request it and they will get if for you!
It doesn’t get much easier than free!
If you looking for some strong book suggestions my friend and mentor Jerry Clark lists the top 50 books that changed his life on his website.
He is a direct link: http://www.clubrhino.com/public/190.cfm
Jerry also has ton of useful & powerful information on his site… be sure to check it out.
The bottom line is your income will never exceed the level of your own personal development.
To have more you must become more!
Enjoy the rest of your day.
All the best,
James D’Alesandro
