Getting Accepted in Affiliate Networks – What You Need to Know

by | on September 22, 2012

There was a time when applying to an affiliate network was mainly a formality, and you could be fairly sure you’d be approved. Nowadays you find that most of the affiliate networks have got rigorous rules that you need to follow, and convince them that you will give them business. If you know how to go about it, you can still manage to get accepted by many networks, even if you don’t have much experience as an affiliate. You’re probably wondering how to increase your chances of approval. You’ll find that more networks will approve your applications if you stick to the following principles.

Be Ready to Describe Your Marketing Plan: Affiliate managers like to know that you have a strategy for promoting their offers before they approve your application. Most of the networks out there will want you to explain how you will be promoting their offers and what kind of approach you would take. They will often ask you something like, “What are your primary methods for promoting products?” When you promote an offer, will you build a special landing page, blog or website for it? Are you planning to use email marketing? Is the traffic you’ll be generating organic or do you use paid traffic methods? To demonstrate to the network that you know what you’re doing, you should be able to give detailed answers to questions such as these. These networks don’t want inexperienced affiliates to be marketing their products, so they want to make sure you have an effective plan before they approve you.

Which Offers Do You Plan to Promote? The manager of an affiliate network will often want to know what kind of offers/products you want to promote. You may have a particular niche in mind, but you’re better off not specifying only certain offers. Let the affiliate manager know that you’re willing to promote offers that are high converting in any niche. If you say you’re mainly interested in high converting offers, you’re showing that you’re both ambitious and open minded. This is the sort of answer that will make you look like a seasoned affiliate, which is what the networks prefer.

Be Honest: If you want to create an affiliate business that matters, then be honest in your approach. If you have to lie to get into an affiliate network, you’re better off forgetting it and going elsewhere. No matter who you are or how inexperienced, you can get into an affiliate network honestly if you try hard enough. The fact is, affiliate networks are now very careful before approving new applications because of the unethical practices of many affiliates. Your goal should not be to get accepted at any cost, but to do so in a manner that’s honest and ethical. The more transparent you are, the better relationship you will share with the network in the long run.

Before you can begin profiting from affiliate marketing, you first have to get your application approved by an affiliate network. Go ahead and start applying what you’ve learned in the above article to increase your chances of getting accepted.
