Thomas, known as EtTheHipHopPreacher on Youtube, grew up in the tough streets of Detroit, Michigan.

Eric was abandoned by his original father and was adopted by his step father at the age of 5. Thomas was unaware that his step-dad was not his natural father and ended up finding out while listening in on his aunts conversations. He then called his mother at work to find out the truth.

Eric Thomas , rebelling as a teen and into his twenties, was able to turn his life around with the help of a mentor. Although it took Thomas 12 years to get his degree from Michigan State University, Thomas now makes a living by speaking to youth about how they too can turn their life around just like he did.
