Blog for Content and Have a Conversation With Readers
by Bonnie McDonough | on December 14, 2011

Many of us have difficulty not with the creation of a blog site but with the creation of meaningful content for our blog.
Most people think of themselves as less than creative when it comes to writing blog posts. I am here to tell you that you can blog with the best of them by using a technique that I recently learned.
A blog should be a conversation with your readers reporting about what you are doing and what you have found. Writing a blog should be like having a phone conversation with your grandmother. Get the idea?
My first blog post to this site was about how my husband and I saved money and time using a program called Shopping Daisy.
My husband searched for a black powder gun.
I searched for teacup holders.
We saved over four hundred dollars total. At the time I was writing the first blog post, I was uncertain about my blog theme. In fact, my blog title has changed twice since my original blog post. I simply wanted to take the tools that I had been taught and start applying them.
So I did exactly that. I wrote about the shopping experience using shopping as my primary keyword. I had to add a few more words to my content when I thought I was finished, but that was easy. I simply added the story about why I was in such a rush and needed some help in finding my teacup holders fast. In case you missed the post, I had my teacup collection on my dining room table where my Thanksgiving guests were expecting to be seated to eat dinner.
And I writing this blog post in the same fashion today.
. I am passing along some valuable advice that you need to write in a conversational or reporting style. Your readers will appreciate the genuiness of your writing and will derive the same information from your blog post as if you had filled the post with big words and lectured to them.
At this point in writing this blog post I am already at over three hundred words. All I did was write a few paragraphs to explain to you what I have learned about writing blog posts and articles for my blog. I am having a conversation with you, reporting to you what I have been taught in my SEO classes and giving you the results. I am writing my content as if I am having a phone conversation with my grandmother.
Of course, you need to write about something that will help bring readers to your site, and to do that you must start with keyword research using Google Adwords Keyword Tool. To find out more information about using this tool, you should join me in the Empower Network for that training as well as training on how to get to the first page of Google and stay there. My team will also provide additional resources to help you with this endeavor.
And do not forget that backlinks are the key to driving traffic to your blog or website once you have chosen a great keyword and written your post. You can learn how to get backlinks during your training with Empower Network as well.
Remember, write like you are having a conversation with the reader. That is key to creating content that your readers will enjoy and learn from.
Go out there and set up a blog, set up your tools, do keyword research, write the blog, get backlinks and get to page one of Google.
Happy Blogging!
