In this video, I discuss how others that we choose to associate with and surround ourselves with can have a definite impact on ourselves and can be a determining factor in what type of person we become and how successful we are in our businesses.
What type of people are you interacting with on a regular, daily basis?
I think that we all owe it to ourselves to occasionally stop and consciously take inventory of who we surround ourselves with. I believe that, for the most part, who we associate with and interact with on a regular basis is, indeed, within our control.
It IS something that we have some control over.
So, are you surrounded with people that will have a good and positive influence on you?
Or ones that may possibly (whether they mean to or not) keep you down and hinder your chances of reaching your goals?
I had it pointed out to me once that this is an issue that could make someone come off looking rather arrogant, as if they are being condescending towards others and, more or less, ” looking down their nose ” at other people. But I think that that’s not necessarily the case. Perhaps it’s not a case of the person having an attitude of arrogance and being snobbish, but more a matter of simply choosing to distance themselves from others that they think could influence them in negative ways.
More a matter of self protection or self preservation.
All in all, unless you happen to be one of the very small minority of people that is able to keep others from being a negative influence on them, make sure that you occasionally take the time to evaluate the people that you surround yourself with and decide for yourself whether these people are helping you or hindering you.
In some cases, it may be time to ” cut them loose ” and move on. And as for the ones that you feel are positive influences on you, cherish the relationships that you have with those people and be grateful for the fact that you have them in your life.
