Why I Canceled TribePro and Onlywire Today

My friend Brent and I have been talking about canceling TribePro and Onlywire. So after what happened this past weekend, we decided it is time to pull the plug.
Why would we cancel our subscriptions to these services that are suppose to be so great?
Good question, I will share that with you.
I started using Onlywire because others have been using it to post their content to the various social networking sites. I think I was using about 38 of them.
I heard about Tribepro.com but I didn’t want to use it. Some of the same people that were using Onlywire used Tribepro with it so that others would post to their social media sites. It would create massive exposure.
Not a bad idea!
So I went for it this month. I started sharing a bunch of content to my social networks in hopes of people sharing mine.
One thing I saw is how easy it is to manipulate things. For example, I could send a lot of people’s content through only wire but never actually syndicate it.
So that means it never makes it to the social networks.
I was with my friend Brent last week and he opened his Onlywire account and it showed he hasn’t been syndicating anything. He didn’t know something was wrong.
I went out on Google and searched for some of my content that was syndicated and I only found a handfull of people that syndicated my content. There should have been hundreds of sharing there.
So maybe people aren’t sharing it like they are suppose to?
So, I was checking my traffic stats for the days that I had my content syndicated. I had spikes in my traffic for the day and then it died the next day.
So I went from 700 to 900 and back to 700. So it appeared to be a quick spike but the traffic may have been useless? Nothing happened from the traffic.
So I could increase my traffic to show off to people but that is useless.
One of the big issues we are facing right now is Google. Google is looking at how people are manipulating the search engines and making it harder.
The tribe syndication is a type of manipulation and link scheme which is what Google is going after right now with Penguin.
This past weekend Google released a new version of Penguin and my site took a hit. Its hard to stay away from these updates to the search engines and if the content is poor on sites linking to your site, it will make your site sink.
So my friend Brent and I decided to drop TribePro and Onlywire and see what happens.
Right now linking strategies are up in the air in regards to SEO and search engine rankings in Google. The search engines are getting smarter and don’t like manipulation.
So that is why we made the decision we did.
