Payment Processors For The Empower Network
A lot of people are wondering what the best payment processor option is for the Empower Network at the moment. I am going to break it down for you in this rant, and give you all of the information that you will need to decide for yourself. I will also provide some strong suggestions that will ensure you are getting paid well into the future.
There are currently 3 working payment processors for the Empower Network, Paypal, Alertpay, and Authorize.net. Soon there will be a fourth for people in the United States, and That will be a Merchant account. Eventually, there will also be an International Merchant Account.
Understanding The Empower Network Payment Processors:
That should give you all of the information that you need to make a decision. Like I said in the video, Authorize.net is a great route, but only works for US residents, and I would only recommend it if you are bringing in massive amounts of people, AND everyone will probably not get approved(besides, a better merchant option should be available in a week or two, and you would then be paying for 2 merchant accounts).
I discussed Paypal in the video, so if you are trying to skip the video, go back and watch it, because that breaks it down for you. Alertpay is the best option at the moment. It is a pain in the butt that they can’t take Visa or Mastercard payments at the moment, but it will be better for you to get paid through them long term.
These next few videos will walk you through how to get your AlertPay account set up properly so that you can take recurring payments, and accept Credit Cards when the feature is re-instated. It is the best scalable option that we have at the moment. The merchant accounts will be better when they are available. If you want to know why, refer to the video above.
Also one more Important Thing that I can’t remember if I mentioned in the video is that there are many countries that cannot withdraw their funds when using paypal as a payment processor. Alertpay is again better for this reason; people can withdraw their funds in nearly every country.
I’m assuming that you will be able to get registered for the basic part on your own, when you do, sign up for the ‘Personal Pro’ account. Just Click the Link Below and Register:

Once you do that follow the instructions in this video to get your account verified…
Verifying Your AlertPay Account:
If you have any problems getting things set up, call the Alertpay customer service line @ 1-514-748-5774 or send them a support ticket.
They are open Monday through Friday from 8AM to 7PM E.S.T.
Once you have your account set up, follow the instructions in the Profile section of your Empower Network back office to add Alertpay as a payment option. The video below will walk you through it.
As I mention in this next video, it is very straightforward, but I was an idiot when I did it and screwed up step 3:
3) If you are already using Alertpay’s IPN process with another business, click on “Manage Business Accounts” (under “Standard Integration”), to add a new business profile. You must have a business account, to do this. Otherwise, skip to step 4.
You don’t need a business profile; most people will skip this step. This video will help walk you through it if you need:
Setting Up Alertpay In Your Empower Network Back Office:
There is one more important step that is not currently mentioned in your Empower Network back office: setting up your Alertpay account to accept credit card payments. This next video will walk you through it:
Accepting Credit Card Payments Through Alertpay:
That’s it guys, its all really pretty easy. Like I said, when we can get a merchant account(which should be very soon), that will be your best payment option. Until then, Alertpay is going to be the best option for most people.

I recommend that everyone set this up as a backup either way. It only takes a few minutes, and it is always a good idea to have a “Plan B.”
Funding AlertPay
The only other thing you have to do to pay for you products with Alertpay right now is to either fund your account, or have an American Express card. Alertpay is temporarily not able to accept Visa and Mastercard payments, as I explained in the first video.
The easiest way to fund your account at the moment is to do a bank wire. I’ll cut a video for that the next time I do it, but it is easy; simply click on the Deposit tab on the top, Click on Bank Wire, and follow the instructions and prompts.
Bank Transfers are free, but the feature was down when I checked a few days ago. If you like, you can contact Alertpay customer service(1-514-748-5774), and see if they have got it working again before doing a bank wire.
Once they are able to accept Visa and Mastercard again, funding your Alertpay account will not be necessary.
Well, that’s all folks! Exciting things are happening; lets rip this up moving forward into 2012. If you have any questions, please contact Alertpay customer service, or leave them in the comments below.
